Primarily responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Leave of Absence (LOA) programs for Elliot Health System, including coordination with an external leave vendor. This role also supports employee benefit programs, including life and disability insurance claims, and oversees voluntary benefit offerings such as critical illness, hospital indemnity, and accident coverage. The Senior Benefits and Leave Specialist ensures these programs are administered accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable regulations, while providing expert guidance to employees and managers across the organization. Responsibilities Manage leave programs including FMLA, ADA, state-specific leaves, parental, military, and personal leave. Coordinate with third-party administrators (TPAs) to ensure timely and accurate processing, maintain and reconcile leave data, advise managers and employees on policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and internal regulations. Support the administration of employee benefit programs Oversee short-term and long-term disability claims and life insurance claims in partnership with carriers, ensuring timely, accurate, and compassionate processing. Administer voluntary benefit programs—including Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity, Accident Insurance, and others—by educating employees on available offerings, supporting enrollment processes, and coordinating with carriers to resolve claims and coverage issues. Develop, review, and revise written communications related to benefits, leave programs, claims processes, and voluntary offerings, ensuring clarity, consistency, and compliance. Stay informed of federal, state, and local laws impacting employee benefits and leave programs, and ensure organizational practices remain compliant through timely updates and education. Prepare reports on benefits utilization, leave trends, and claim activity; support internal and external audits; and stay current on regulatory changes to recommend necessary policy updates. Requirements Education: Associate’s degree in human resources or similar field required.
