We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated CNC Lathe Machine Application Engineer with hands-on experience in robotic loading/unloading, part programming, and turnkey solution development. This position involves full project ownership from installation to customer sign-off, including part programming to print, robotic automation integration, cycle optimization, and run-off support to ensure successful machine acceptance. What will you do
Turnkey Project Execution: Lead full turnkey CNC lathe projects from concept to completion, including tooling, fixturing, programming, and cycle optimization. Part Programming: Create and debug CNC lathe programs directly from engineering prints using G-code and/or CAM software. Installation & Setup: Perform machine installation, leveling, alignment, and integration of peripheral equipment (robots, conveyors, bar feeders, etc.). Robot Integration: Configure and integrate robotic systems for automated part loading and unloading, including end-of-arm tooling, safety interlocks, and handshaking protocols. Cycle Time Optimization: Analyze and optimize cycle times for improved machine performance and efficiency. Run-Off & Acceptance: Conduct internal and customer run-off trials, proving out process capability and part quality to meet or exceed customer specifications. Customer Training & Support: Provide on-site training, documentation, and technical support to end users and operators. Collaboration: Work closely with sales, project management, service, and engineering teams to ensure seamless project execution. Travel: Willingness to travel to customer sites for installation, support, and training (approximately 75%). Required Qualifications & Skills
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with CNC lathes (multi-axis preferred) and part programming to print. Strong experience with robot integration (Fuji, FANUC, ABB, Yaskawa, etc.) for CNC machine automation. Proficient in G-code programming, CAM software (Mastercam, Esprit, etc.), and machine controls (Fanuc). Deep understanding of machining principles, GD&T, tooling, work holding, and material properties. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents. Experience with project documentation and customer presentations is a plus. Experience with full turnkey manufacturing systems and PPAP/FAI documentation. Familiarity with Industry 4.0, data collection, and IoT integration. Certification or formal training in robot programming or automation systems is a plus. Associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or related field preferred (but not required if experience is strong).
