Kemper, a publicly traded, multi-billion dollar insurance and financial services company, seeks a talented and motivated Senior Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting team at our headquarters in downtown Chicago. This is a fantastic role for a strong performer who is looking to greatly expand their knowledge of ledgers, consolidation, and financial reporting within a multi-faceted insurance company that has exposure to SEC, GAAP, and statutory accounting. Kemper has a proven track record for developing its people for higher roles within the department as well as other functions and across its operating entities. We seek a detail-oriented professional to assist with the Corporate, P&C, and Life investment accounting for monthly, quarterly and annual accounting functions associated with Kemper’s financial reporting.Work with internal and external auditors and provide necessary support 5-8 years of experience in corporate accounting.
Insurance / financial services experience is a plus.
Investment accounting a plus.Familiarity with both US GAAP and statutory accounting principles is a plus Experience navigating a large ERP environment Proficiency in MS Office products - intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Excel**Other skills:*** Effective writing skills and strong attention to detail required* Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills* Progressive thinking skills, a strong work ethic, and a knack for innovative solutions* Excellent communication skills to interact with varying levels of management and professional staff.* Ability to identify, analyze and solve accounting issues.Experience in Workday and Blackline a strong plus **Kemper at a Glance**The Kemper family of companies is one of the nation’s leading specialized insurers.
