Overview
Adjunct Faculty, GED-Adult Basic Education-Career Preparation CE at Lone Star College (LSC) – LSC-Houston North Greenspoint. CE instructors are hired in a part-time capacity on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the college system. This role teaches GED/Adult Basic Education-Career Preparation courses and supports student achievement within the college environment. Location
LSC-Houston North Greenspoint, 250 N. Sam Houston Pkwy E., Houston, TX 77060 Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)
Teaches GED/Adult Basic Education-Career Preparation courses at a variety of times and locations Creates engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material Submits required college reports and forms in a timely manner Utilizes a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines Meets with and advises students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods Evaluates students to measure progress toward course objectives and informs students of progress in a timely manner Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community Attends meetings, trainings, and orientations as required Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Mastery of course content Demonstrated leadership skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills Ability to engage a diverse student population and collaborate with a wide variety of people Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies Commitment to academic excellence, service, and lifelong learning Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning, learning communities, and use of technology Ability to use effective strategies to engage students in learning Physical Abilities
The work is sedentary; may involve walking, standing, bending, carrying light items. No special physical demands required. Work Schedule & Conditions
Work in a climate-controlled classroom and/or lab environment with minimal safety hazards Hours vary based on class times; instructors must meet classes at scheduled times and be available to students outside of class Required Qualifications
At least 3 years of related work experience in the teaching area Salary
$55.44 per contact hour Benefits
