PRIMARY PURPOSE Patrols, monitors, and provides simple security services consistent with departmental policy, while assisting patients, visitors, and staff to help ensure that Dallas County Hospital District's buildings, campuses and assets are safe and secure.

MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS

Education : High School Diploma or GED.

Experience : None.

Equivalent Education and/or Experience : None.

Certification/Registration/Licensure : Must have a valid Texas Class C Driver License.

Required Tests for Placement : Employees hired on or before 03/29/14 are exempt from the typing test and physical agility assessment. Skills or abilities include passing a typing test with at least 20 words per minute with no more than three errors, and successfully passing a physical agility assessment.

Must pass a pre-employment polygraph test.

Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.

Ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with the public.

Ability to handle stressful and crisis situations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitor traffic and restrict access to designated areas following policies and procedures.

Monitor high-risk patients in the Emergency Room or other designated areas.

Drive an escort shuttle and escort patients to ensure safe passage for the public and employees.

Maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors, and staff to promote customer satisfaction.

Assist in maintaining a safe environment by providing instructions, physical help, and performing other duties as needed.

Patrol assigned areas to identify and report safety and security hazards.

Ensure smooth vehicle and pedestrian traffic flow within the campus.

Respond to service calls following established procedures.

Prepare accurate reports as required by law and internal practices.

Suggest improvements to work processes and customer satisfaction, supporting the district's goals.

Stay informed about developments in the security field through seminars, workshops, and reading.

Maintain knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines, and develop controls to ensure compliance.

Assist in related duties to maintain a secure environment.

Respond appropriately to violent encounters, using necessary force while maintaining professionalism.

Participate in training sessions, demonstrating proficiency in defensive tactics and other required training.
