Network Engineer/Architect
and make an impact on a large-scale migration and operations project for a prominent DOD contract. The I3TS program provides extensive IT support to enhance DTRA's Information Management & Technology Directorate (ITD). Your expertise will help consolidate, modernize, and continuously innovate IT services for DTRA's internal and external mission partners. As a Network Engineer/Architect, you will play a pivotal role in designing modernized capabilities for DTRA, including defining technical requirements, conducting feasibility studies, and executing pilot projects. Your responsibilities will also cover diagnosing and troubleshooting outages and implementing proactive mitigation strategies. A crucial aspect of this position is your experience with SD-WAN solutions and transforming from a non-SD-WAN environment. Working with cloud-native SDN, Software Defined Access, and EVPN will be key components of your role in a DevSecOps setting. Clearance Requirement: Active DoD TS/SCI
Primary Responsibilities Design secure network solutions to consolidate connectivity at an enterprise level. Create wide area connectivity designs that prioritize performance, security, and mission success. Develop secure access solutions leveraging wired and wireless technologies. Integrate capacity planning for network and security environments into solution designs. Investigate network optimization strategies to meet performance standards. Identify and reform legacy services while ensuring security and maintainability. Support the development of IP addressing schemas for both IPv4 and IPv6 networks. Collaborate with information assurance teams to ensure compliance with DoD standards. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math with 12-15 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 10-13 years of experience. Network certification such as CCNP (CCIE preferred). Active DoD IAT Level II (e.g., Security+) certification required. Broad knowledge of LAN, WAN, TCP/UDP, dual stack IPv4/IPv6, and network security technologies. Experience with networking technologies from Cisco, Juniper, F5, Aruba, Palo Alto, Dell, Brocade, or Fortinet. Experience with SD-WAN solutions, preferably Dell Versa. Familiarity with cloud networking in Azure and AWS. Experience with AAA servers like Cisco ISE or Aruba Clearpass. Experience with Enterprise Wireless solutions. Familiarity with Type 1 encryptors. Ability to create network architecture designs using tools like Visio or PowerPoint. Competency in troubleshooting complex network issues. Experience in site surveys and analysis of data from those surveys. Experience in executing migration plans for circuits or applications between environments. Ability to design medium to large network infrastructure and maintain documentation. Capacity for teamwork and problem-solving in complex network scenarios. Excellent communication skills for drafting SOPs and technical documentation. Competency in presenting designs and plans to technical leadership. Preferred Qualifications Experience with automation tools like Ansible, Python, or Terraform. Familiarity with enterprise network management tools. Hands-on experience with WAN, LAN, BGP, OSPF, EVPN, and SDWAN. Knowledge of Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC). Expertise in the design of complex enterprise networks. Strong understanding of DoD security requirements for network infrastructure. Experience with system hardening practices, including DoD STIG implementation. Experience with reporting and business applications like Power BI or SharePoint. Experience providing technical leadership to a team of engineers.
