Our bank client seeks a Chief Risk Officer in Bridgeport, CT. The role oversees the bank’s credit and risk management functions organization-wide. The CRO develops and implements effective risk management strategies balancing risk mitigation with growth and service objectives. The incumbent ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations, prioritizing resources based on risk exposure, audit findings, statutes, regulations, and bank needs.
Salary & Benefits
Up to $175K salary plus benefits.
(This is not a remote position). Oversee the Senior Credit Risk Manager responsible for the loan credit risk portfolio, ensuring sound lending practices and compliance. Develop and improve credit risk management strategies, establish risk tolerances, and monitor portfolio health using data-driven dashboards. Supervise underwriting processes for accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness, ensuring scalability. Manage loan review and collection processes for efficiency and timeliness. Set performance benchmarks and SLAs for credit staff, improving turnaround times via technology and automation. Analyze portfolio performance, identify emerging risks, and recommend actions. Conduct stress testing and scenario analysis on economic impacts. Collaborate with the CEO and Board to set risk tolerance levels and key risk indicators. Develop and maintain the bank’s overall risk management strategy across various risk types. Establish risk governance structures aligned with the bank’s goals and regulations. Lead development of risk policies, procedures, and frameworks. Communicate risk issues to stakeholders and promote a risk-aware culture. Secure and maintain appropriate insurance coverage. Work with Executive Management to align risk strategies with business goals, using the Strategic Action Plan. Ensure compliance with banking regulations like Dodd-Frank, Basel III, B.S.A., etc. Coordinate internal and external audits and regulatory exams, serving as primary contact with auditors and examiners.
