We operate in a decentralized environment where each location, called a Profit Center, is run by the Profit Center Manager as if it were their own small business. A Profit Center typically includes a warehouse, counter, sales office, and sometimes a showroom, and operates under unique trade names to honor local marketplaces. Hughes Supply is one of those trade names and is seeking a Warehouse Teammate at the Pineville, NC location.

About the Role:

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for counting, verifying, and receiving incoming vendor shipments and customer return material
  • Stock and maintain the warehouse; pick, document, and pack customer orders in accordance with Company policy and procedures
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction
  • Handle all shipping discrepancies per procedures or forward appropriate paperwork to the designated employee
  • Identify nonstock, special-order material, and damaged material and store in proper warehouse locations
  • Complete necessary documentation for customer shipments delivered via third-party carrier
  • Load and unload trucks, operate warehouse forklift and other material handling equipment safely
  • Inform immediate supervisor of stock depletions, count discrepancies, or damaged/defective/nonsaleable merchandise that could impact customer service
  • Ensure security and controls are in place and upheld to protect Profit Center assets
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness, order, and safety; remove empty cartons, metal bands, pallets, and debris; inform supervisor of safety issues
  • Assist co-workers in servicing customers
  • Perform all job functions in accordance with the company’s Safety Standards
  • Complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by supervisor or management

About You

  • 1 year warehouse receiving and material handling experience
  • Knowledge of products sold at the Profit Center preferred
  • Be able to drive a vehicle over 10,000 lbs. As a non-CDL driver, you must: be at least 21 years old; possess a proper and valid driver’s license; have a driving record that meets the criteria for an Authorized Driver in accordance with Company policy; pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and at least every two years while employed

  • Have a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Be able to build and maintain positive working relationships with customers, vendors, and co-workers
  • Know and apply safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment
  • Be able to learn to safely operate a forklift and other material handling equipment used at the Profit Center
  • Be able to learn and operate the computer-related systems used for warehouse operations
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Be able to perform basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide) using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
