The purpose of this job is to supervise warehouse operations, to include overseeing the receipt, maintenance, distribution, record maintenance, and inventory control of supplies/materials stocked in the warehouse.

Responsibilities

  • Acts in a professional, respectful, and welcoming manner at all times.

  • Supervises, directs, counsels, disciplines, and evaluates assigned staff.
  • Supervises daily work activities; organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; develops work schedules; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; consults with assigned staff; assists with complex/problem situations; and provides technical expertise in assigned areas.
  • Supervises warehouse operations to include the receipt, stocking, storage, issuance, distribution, record and maintenance, and inventory control of supplies, materials, and furniture stocked in the warehouse.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of operations and programs in assigned areas; identifies and recommends improvements or other appropriate changes.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements budget for assigned area; monitors expenditures to ensure compliance with approved budget.
  • Responds to complaints and questions related to warehouse operations; provides information, researches problems, and initiates problem resolution.
  • Maintains an effective inventory system to control warehoused materials; organizes stock to facilitate identification and location of stock items; places stock items into assigned areas; maintains proper storage of parts, supplies, tools, and materials; monitors security of items stored in or transported to and from warehouse.
  • Determines appropriate stock levels for warehouse stock items; monitors inventory levels to ensure adequate quantities; initiates orders for new or replacement materials; conducts periodic inventory counts of materials in stock; assesses need for new stock items; recommends addition or removal of items from inventory.
  • Coordinates delivery of orders, supplies, equipment, and other materials to schools/departments; reviews orders and researches discrepancies; pulls requested stock items from warehouse inventory; packages items into boxes and marks boxes for proper delivery; plans appropriate timetable for pulling perishable items from freezers/coolers and ensures proper storage during transport; operates truck or other vehicle to deliver orders/materials by truck to schools/departments; loads, transports, and unloads equipment, deliveries, and other materials associated with work activities; operates forklift, pallet jack, and hand trucks to move/organize materials.
  • Coordinates moving, removal, storage, redistribution, and recordkeeping of furniture/equipment; schedules moves of offices, classrooms, or items of furniture/equipment; removes surplus furniture/equipment from schools; places surplus items for storage; reissues surplus items as requested; maintains records of status of all surplus items.
  • Receives incoming packages/deliveries to warehouse of orders such as custodial supplies, mechanical parts, food commodities, textbooks, general supplies, furniture, or equipment; picks up orders from local vendors as needed; inspects deliveries to verify accuracy and completeness of orders; records/logs all deliveries; places materials into stock or prepares for delivery to schools/departments as appropriate.
  • Records all outgoing freight in the record book; processes shipment of return orders, damaged parts, and warranty parts; packages materials and weighs packages for shipping.
  • Operates a variety of machinery, equipment and tools associated with department activities, which may include a pickup truck, delivery truck, forklift, pallet jack, hand truck, sledgehammer, shovel, broom, mechanic tools, facsimile machine, copy machine, calculator, two-way radio, or telephone.
  • Supervises and performs general maintenance tasks necessary to keep vehicles, equipment and tools in operable condition, which may include inspecting equipment, refueling vehicles, greasing equipment, washing/cleaning equipment, disposing of trash, or cleaning warehouse/work areas; monitors equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety; coordinates preventive maintenance of equipment; reports faulty equipment.
  • Communicates through the proper channels to keep supervisor and other appropriate personnel informed of impending problems or events of unusual nature.
  • Follows established procedures for ensuring assigned areas are safe.
  • Works collaboratively with administration, principals, secretaries, staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Attends work and arrives to work on time.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Adheres to the Teacher Code of Ethics as defined by Tennessee Law.
  • Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, logs, work orders, mailing forms, delivery tickets, warehouse transfer forms, inventory records, vehicle maintenance reports, or other documents.
  • Receives various forms, reports, correspondence, invoices, delivery tickets, and furniture requests. Reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate.
  • Answers incoming telephone calls; provides information and assistance; records/relays messages or directs calls to appropriate personnel; returns class as necessary; responds to requests for service or assistance.
  • Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge of traffic laws, safety regulations, and other applicable laws, policies, procedures, and regulations. Attends meetings and training as required.
  • Operates a computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data; verifies accuracy of entered data and makes corrections; utilizes word processing, database, email, or other programs.
  • Performs general/clerical tasks, which may include answering telephone calls, sending/receiving faxes, or filing documentation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge/Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED required. Three (3) years of previous experience and/or training involving warehouse operations, inventory control, and basic supervision preferred. Experience supervising a team is preferred. Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively with Central Office staff, school staff, and persons outside the school district such as vendors.
  • Ability to organize, determine priorities, assign work, and develop work schedules.
  • Ability to delegate job assignments and supervise a team.
  • Ability to drive delivery truck, van, or other vehicles to transport furniture, supplies, and/or materials.
  • Ability to use a variety of machinery and tools.
  • Ability to work in adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery vibrations, traffic hazards, or toxic agents.

Compensation: Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience. Grade G
