Position Summary
The Happier Life Project is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join our team at our Elsinore center. This part-time position offers an exciting opportunity to support our nonprofit organization by managing human resources operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of nonprofit HR needs, be familiar with BambooHR, and demonstrate a passion for fostering a positive workplace culture. The Happier Life Project is a Recovery Community Organization that offers resources and support to people in recovery from addiction, mental health challenges, and the re-entry population.
Responsibilities
- HR Systems Management: Map and utilize BambooHR for employee records, payroll coordination, tracking time off, and generating HR reports.
- Recruitment & Onboarding: Support recruitment efforts and onboard new hires.
- Compliance & Policy: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws and maintain updated personnel policies and procedures.
- Employee Relations: Act as the point of contact for employee questions and concerns, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Performance Management: Assist in implementing performance evaluation processes and support managers with documentation and feedback tools.
- Payroll & Benefits Support: Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate payroll and benefits administration.
- Training & Development: Coordinate employee training sessions, certifications, and development opportunities aligned with organizational goals.
- Record Keeping: Maintain organized and secure HR files and records.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred but not required).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in human resources, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
- Proficiency in BambooHR or similar HR software.
- Familiarity with California labor laws and nonprofit compliance requirements.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Must be comfortable working with a diverse population. Lived experience with mental health and recovery personal or family encouraged to apply.
Schedule & Compensation
- Schedule: Part-time, flexible hours (approximately 20-25 hours per week).
- Pay: $28 - $32 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
