Overview
Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Orchard Park, NY
The Manufacturing/Process Engineer supports the production environment by ensuring manufacturing processes are efficient, safe, and produce high-quality products. This role involves generating and maintaining process documentation, supporting inspections, resolving production issues, optimizing processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement.
Base pay range
$45.00/hr - $49.00/hr
Responsibilities
- Safety: Learn, implement, and comply with all Safety, Ergonomics, and Management of Change activities in support of site safety goals. Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) may be required; training will be provided if necessary.
- Process and Work Instructions: Generate and maintain Manufacturing Processes and Work Instructions per MSOP standards. Create and update Oracle ERP routings as needed for products.
- Inspection: Identify needs for standard or special gauging and special equipment/tooling for production.
- Problem Resolution: Provide timely support in resolving manufacturing issues. Complete Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) according to MSOP standards in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Process Optimization: Improve First Pass Yield (FPY) and Overall Process Effectiveness (OPE). Utilize Lean Six Sigma tools to reduce waste and variation and improve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Support 5S and visual management efforts in manufacturing areas.
- Work Cell Design: Assist in developing work cell design, integration, and validation as required.
- Communication and Teamwork: Collaborate with Quality, Design, Tool Design, and Production teams to improve workflow, throughput, quality, and safety. Build strong cross-functional relationships and identify continuous improvement opportunities. Attend cell meetings, customer calls, and team meetings as needed.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment involving hand assembly, mechanical fasteners, and some testing.
Preferred
- Experience developing and supporting Electrical/Electro-mechanical product manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Experience with welding (TIG, Electron Beam), vacuum furnace brazing, and machining.
- Practitioner of Lean Manufacturing and Visual Control implementations.
- Experience in developing tooling for assembly of mechanical and electrical products.
- Understanding of Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) principles.
- Knowledge and application of PFMEAs (Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) within manufacturing.
- Experience with continuous improvement and root cause problem-solving activities.
