Job Title - Project Control Specialist

The Project Controls Specialist will work with a key client in the Chicago area to provide capital program schedule oversight, as well as project budget and cost engineering, project status review, and documentation.This is a full-time, hybrid role that balances both work from home and several days per week at the clients west suburban office. Candidates must be self-driven and highly professional to ensure work is completed with excellence while maintaining a flexible schedule.
Responsibilities
Proactively interact with project stakeholders to obtain the activities and logic ties necessary to deliver the projects within the capital program. Work closely with engineers, consultants, and other team members to review accruals, cost changes and project forecasts of both budget and cost while maintaining documentation quality standards. Coordinate with colleagues to prepare monthly and quarterly program reports including cash flow forecasts, project variances based on accruals, budget utilization, or other projections of capital program needs. Participate in meetings to develop, review, analyze, and update progress within the program schedule, including project milestones. Develop various schedule scenarios for the client that present options to mitigate risks. Streamline reporting efforts and recommend improvements to optimize budget/cost management systems.
Requirements
2-5 years of experience in cost engineering, scheduling and project controls, preferably for large construction programs in infrastructure or transportation sectors. Expertise in project cost accounting, accruals, variance reporting, and forecasting. Thorough knowledge of critical path schedule development and analysis. Competence in work breakdown and cost breakdown structures. Ability to collaborate well within teams and promote effective problem-solving. Organizational skills and attention to detail.
Experience:
Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Knowledge of forecasting, cost engineering or generally accepted accounting principles. Proficiency in scheduling software, preferably Primavera P6, secondarily Microsoft Project. Experience in Trimble Unity Construct (e-Builder) or other program management platforms. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel or other data analytics tools.
