Overview
Join Southern California Edison (SCE) as an Advanced Metering, Senior Engineer on the Customer Grid Edge Team. Apply industry expertise to design and implement evaluation processes for next-generation Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) technologies before deployment in the field. Lead hands-on testing of emerging solutions and deliver technical insights to drive improvements in performance, reliability, and scalability. Work on advanced meter capabilities such as power disaggregation for energy insights, orchestration of behind-the-meter resources (electric vehicles and battery storage), and enhanced situational awareness to strengthen network modeling and fault detection.
Base pay range $140,400.00/yr - $210,500.00/yr
Responsibilities
Oversees engineers performing diagnostics, monitoring and inspecting equipment, and reviewing grid technologies, building relationships to facilitate cross-functional knowledge transfer of related work groups
Leads the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and other documentation to communicate project status, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders
Collaborate and lead with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless development, integration and implementation of future technologies and asset performance management strategies
Assists in a variety of engineering and business initiatives and grid strategies, including development of innovative procedures and design recommendations
Provides support for new equipment installation and startup, then leads the hand over processes to the ramp and sustaining phases
Leads junior engineers in investigation of threats on the distribution system infrastructure based on observations and findings
Gathers and correlates basic data using engineering studies and procedures, which may include routine and diagnostic testing of components and systems
Facilitates training and professional development opportunities for engineering team members to enhance their skills and knowledge
A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Bachelor's Degree in a scientific/technical/math field
Seven or more years of experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments
Possess a valid Class C Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with utility enterprise and/or grid information and systems
Experience with utility meter technologies and data management systems
Experience developing and executing testing in lab environment
Experience working with Distributed Energy Resources (Electric Vehicles, Battery Storage, Solar)
Additional Information
Work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Employees are required to work and reside in California unless noted otherwise. Details will be discussed at the interview stage. Work mode can change based on business needs.

The primary work location is Westminster, CA, with possible extended time at Pomona and/or Irwindale.
Position may require up to 25% travel and field work across the SCE service territory.
