Network & Security Infrastructure Consultant - Gaithersburg, MD (hybrid) 10-12 month assignment with potential to extend. Must live within commuting distance of Gaithersburg, MD.
Expertise to include - Cisco SDWAN, Zscaler/ZTNA, FW Palo Alto, Cisco switching, Nexus, Ruckus switching/wireless.

Network Evaluation and Integration Strategy
Perform thorough evaluations of the acquired organization’s network infrastructure. Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to devise robust integration strategies that guarantee uninterrupted connectivity and alignment with network protocols.
Security Assurance and Regulatory Adherence
Review and strengthen the security framework of unified networks. Confirm that all network consolidations adhere to information security guidelines and sector regulations, preserving stringent standards for safeguarding data and privacy.
Technical Expertise and Guidance
Offer specialized advice and technical direction throughout the integration process. Assist internal groups and stakeholders with network concerns and the deployment of new technologies obtained through mergers and acquisitions.
Documentation and Analytics
Produce and update comprehensive network design records. Compile and deliver analytical reports to stakeholders, emphasizing integration status, issues encountered, and implemented remedies.
Ongoing Enhancement
Pinpoint potential for network improvement and extensibility. Formulate methods for the ongoing elevation of network efficiency and resiliency after integration, accommodating dynamic organizational needs.
Required Qualifications
7–10+ years of experience in network infrastructure and security engineering, preferably in enterprise or regulated environments. 7+ years of Network, Palo Alto Firewalls, Switches and Wireless experience. Proven experience supporting IT integrations post-acquisition or during large-scale infrastructure changes. In-depth knowledge of LAN/WAN/WLAN, routing & switching, firewalls, VPNs, network segmentation, and cloud connectivity. Strong understanding of network security best practices, access control, and zero-trust architectures. Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as NIST, HIPAA, GxP, or ISO 27001. Proficient in creating documentation, playbooks, and network diagrams (e.g., with Visio or Lucidchart). Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. Qualifications
Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated industries. Hands-on experience with tools such as: Cisco Catalyst, ASA, Firepower Cisco DNA Center / Prime SolarWinds, Plixer, or equivalent network monitoring tools Certifications: CCNP, CCIE, CISSP, or equivalent Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure) and hybrid network design Previous consulting or client-facing experience Additional Information
