The
Estimator/Project Manager
is responsible for estimating, planning, coordinating, and managing commercial steel stud framing and drywall construction projects from start to finish. This role oversees cost proposals, subcontracts, schedules, budgets, and job cost reports, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards. The individual reviews drywall designs, construction drawings, bid documents, pay applications, and change orders, coordinating with subcontractors, clients, and internal teams to resolve project challenges. The ideal candidate is highly organized, task-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, team-focused environment with multiple deadlines. Strong knowledge of drywall construction processes and the ability to adapt to changing priorities are required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project Management Manage and oversee commercial drywall projects from conception to completion Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, proposals, and related documents Develop and manage project schedules to ensure timely completion Monitor project financials, identify risks and opportunities to maintain profitability Manage subcontractors, material suppliers, and change orders Evaluate alternative construction methods to improve efficiency and reduce costs Prepare and manage Owner and subcontractor billings Manage and process submittals and RFIs Resolve discrepancies by collecting and analyzing project information Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors for smooth project execution Uphold Dempsey Construction core values and service principles Perform quantity take-offs and estimating for self-performed structural/non-structural steel stud framing and drywall work Prepare conceptual, schematic, design development, and CD phase estimates as required Provide cost information and develop estimates for changes in the work Submit schematic and detailed estimates, including cost proposals Evaluate quotes from subcontractors and material suppliers Provide clear scopes of work to bidders prior to ITB Qualifications
3+ years of Construction Project Management experience 3+ years of experience in structural and non-structural steel stud framing and drywall estimating In-depth knowledge of drywall systems and steel stud framing, including load-bearing and non-load-bearing assemblies Track record of delivering commercial projects on time and within budget Experience in leading teams and delivering information effectively Experience and knowledge of commercial construction estimating, means and methods, project administration, LEED certifications, and industry practices Familiarity with regulatory construction standards Clean driving record (travel may be required) Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred Certifications
OSHA 30 preferred Skills
Microsoft Office Suite Microsoft Project Take-off software (On-Screen Takeoff or similar) preferred Strong mathematical and analytical skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Collaborative team player and professional representative of the company Excellent time management and problem-solving abilities Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Accountability and sincerity in work Position Details
