As a Civil Engineer in Training in our Community Development Group in multiple locations throughout the Midwest, you will work on a wide variety of projects from the design of civil and municipal engineering for highways and local roads, public utilities and public works, parks, trails, pipelines, tunnels, renewable energy projects, and related infrastructure. This role involves collaborating with design teams to develop construction plans and specifications; preparing reports, studies, and construction contract documents; computing quantities and cost estimates; performing field observations; and assisting in the coordination and management of construction activities. Perform civil design and technical tasks on projects under the supervision of the Project Manager or Project Engineer. Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and professionals in project coordination. Perform field work and construction observation under supervision of a senior engineer/designer and/or construction manager. Analyze data and perform calculations to design civil system components. Collect data to support design decisions. Interpret and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices. Evaluate proposed solutions for reliability, resource efficiency, and cost effectiveness. Communicate professionally with project team members, clients, and contractors. Perform other duties as assigned. Your Capabilities and Credentials

Motivated, enthusiastic, flexible, innovative, organized, with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Basic understanding of civil engineering design concepts. Interest in renewables (solar, wind, etc.) projects for various clients. Desire to work on sustainability and green infrastructure projects. Ability to collaborate in a project team and engage in creative and critical thought. Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, and other materials. Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction. Strong interest in community development engineering disciplines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and basic understanding of AutoCAD Civil 3D. Good driving record and a valid driver’s license. Education and Experience

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and successful completion of the EIT exam or the ability to take the EIT exam within six months of starting preferred. Related Co-op/Internship experience is preferred for new graduates; 1–2 years of related civil engineering experience for more experienced engineers. About Stantec

Final compensation is based on education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Some roles may be bonus eligible. Pay and Benefits

Locations in MN, VT, & various CA, NY areas — Min $67,800; Max $94,900 Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & various CA, NJ areas — Min $74,600; Max $104,400 Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, life and disability insurance, paid holidays, vacation, and paid sick leave where applicable by law.
