Overview
LIBRARIAN: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (college credit) – San Diego Community College District. This is an adjunct/temporary teaching pool for for-credit library courses and related library services at district-wide locations (City, Mesa, Miramar campuses and related centers). Posting details indicate a continuous pool with no guarantee of immediate openings. Applications may be kept on file for fall, spring, and/or summer semesters; applicants are notified if qualifications match an opening. Employees are expected to work flexible hours including day, evening, and possibly weekend assignments. Major Responsibilities
In accordance with the needs of the library department, provide reference, collection development, instructional workshops, technical services, cataloging, electronic resource management, online services, and outreach to students, faculty, and classified professionals in a variety of modalities. For part-time faculty hired to teach for-credit courses, provide instruction in accordance with established curricula and course outlines. Teaching assignments may be divided between lecture and lab and are expected to be available to students outside of class. Attend and participate in department, campus, and district meetings; contribute to the development and implementation of library policies and procedures. Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas and fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member. Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics; perform related duties as assigned. Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master\'s degree in Library Science, or Library and Information Science (American Library Association-accredited); OR, Possession of a California Community College Librarian Credential (valid for life); OR, The equivalent. Desirable Qualifications
Equivalency: If you do not possess the exact degrees listed above or anticipate receiving the required degree prior to teaching, complete a "Request for Equivalency Form" and attach during application. Foreign Degree: have coursework evaluated by a professional credential evaluation service (NACES/ACEI) and submit the evaluation with the online application.
