CliftonLarsonAllen is seeking a Chief Financial Officer with nonprofit industry experience for our CAAS group in New York City, NY. If you have an accounting background and are seeking variety, client-facing work, and the backing of a top 10 national firm, this role could be a great fit.
Overview As a Chief Financial Officer, you will be part of the client’s accounting services team and perform CFO functions. You will help set financial policy and participate in the overall strategy, drive capital planning, risk management, ratio and KPI analysis, and board interactions. You will lead financial administration, planning, budgeting, and longer-term budget planning and cost management. You will monitor budgets and present operational metrics, ensure financial record systems are maintained, manage cash flow and forecasting, coordinate audit activities, and effectively manage multiple client engagements. You will build strong client relationships and become a key member of the client management team, and develop an external business network as a thought leader in the service and nonprofit industry.
Responsibilities
Perform CFO functions as part of the client’s accounting services team.
Be accountable for identifying and implementing best practices related to the services provided to add value to the client.
Work with clients to set financial policy and participate in overall strategy.
Drive capital planning, risk management, KPI analysis, and board interactions.
Lead financial administration, planning, budgeting, and longer-term budget planning and cost management.
Monitor progress of budgets and present operational metrics.
Ensure financial staff maintain financial record systems in accordance with appropriate principles and monitor the use of funds.
Manage cash flow and forecasting, directing financial accounting.
Coordinate audit activities.
Effectively and efficiently manage multiple client engagements.
Build strong client relationships and become a key member of the client management team.
Develop key external business network and become a service and industry thought leader.
Qualifications
Experience: 8 years of relative work experience as an Assistant Controller, Controller, or equivalent. Nonprofit industry experience is highly preferred.
Prior project management and client management experience preferred but not required.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.
CPA certification preferred but not required.
Knowledge of QuickBooks Online highly preferred.
Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and skilled in multitasking.
Travel: This position works primarily out of our NYC office location. Must have the ability to do frequent local travel to/from client sites and may require occasional non-local or overnight travel for client visits, training, meetings, and/or other business-related purposes.
