About The Program The Martin V. Smith School of Business & Economics at CSU Channel Islands seeks to cultivate a learning environment that fosters excellence in business and economics education to prepare students to effectively engage with the ever-changing dynamics of organizational landscapes. Faculty members follow a teacher/scholar model in accordance with AACSB standards.

About The Position The Martin V. Smith School of Business & Economics seeks a pool of qualified applicants for possible temporary part-time undergraduate teaching assignments in management. These positions are filled on an as-needed basis and recruitment is ongoing. Assignments can include daytime, evening, and online courses. Assignments may also require administering assessments and collecting/submitting assessment data.

Minimum Degree Requirements Masters degree with a focus on Ethics, Business, or in a related field.

Required Qualifications

The minimum degree requirements stated above;

Demonstrated preparation for teaching Business Ethics at a university level;

Applicants should demonstrate the commitment to effectively work with and engage a diverse student population and evidence of how they would successfully mentor minoritized students with special focus on Latinx, Black/African American, American Indian, and Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander students.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in Ethics, Management, or a PhD in a related discipline;

5+ years full-time work experience;

Work/consulting experience in private or public sector related to Ethics or Business & Economics;

A record of effective teaching with a variety of methodologies.

Responsibilities Teach one or more classes as assigned and as student demand allows. Conduct and turn in assessment activities as outlined each semester.

Application Deadline Screening of applications will begin August 9, 2024. Priority will be given to applicants who submit applications prior to the screening deadline; however, the position will remain open until filled.

CV or resume;

A cover letter;

A statement describing your experience mentoring and/or working with minoritized students with a special focus on Latinx, Black/African American, Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander and American Indian students; and

A teaching philosophy describing how you plan to engage and interact with students, with a special focus on Latinx, Black/African American, Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander, and American Indian students.

Compensation California State University Lecturer Salary (Academic Year). Placement into a range is based on qualifications and experience. Initial assignments are typically at the bottom third of the salary range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. The University offers excellent fringe benefits.

The position may be considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and you must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

A background check must be completed satisfactorily before any position offer. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status or continued employment.
