Position The Senior Accountant is an integral member of the General Ledger team. This role reports to the Assistant Corporate Controller and is responsible for recording, analyzing, and monitoring financial information, including balance sheets and profit and loss statements. The Senior Accountant interacts closely with the company\'s Region Controllers to provide accurate, timely data for inclusion in the monthly financial statements, while providing outstanding customer service to all internal and external customers. The Senior Accountant is focused on continuous process improvements and ensuring accuracy and compliance with Company accounting policies, local, state, and federal regulations.
Responsibilities of Position
Prepare, enter, and/or post journal entries into the general ledger system on a monthly basis by collecting necessary data, analyzing and/or allocating costs, and preparing proper audit trail support and approval.
Collect, analyze, and substantiate financial data through auditing of documents/transactions and prepare various reports and/or spreadsheets.
Reconcile financial discrepancies and irregularities by collecting, analyzing, and correcting information.
Prepare monthly financial variance to budget reports for management.
Analyze general ledger accounts, including accruals, to substantiate balances and record adjustments as needed.
Determine daily cash requirements, related borrowing needs, and available funds.
Prepare occasional check requests and/or invoices for A/P processing by assigning correct general ledger account numbers.
Initiate and/or approve wires/ACH payments.
Prepare monthly bank reconciliation reports for management review.
Assist corporate department managers with the preparation and input of yearly budget data.
Record and/or audit the accuracy of inventory valuations.
Assist in the preparation of various external audit schedules.
Promote a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with employees, co-workers, and management.
Prepare and file various Census and/or EPA reports.
Perform job duties in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position will not manage employees.
Skills & Abilities Needed for Position
Ability to analyze and interpret financial information.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and trust around sensitive accounting issues with a high degree of integrity.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to professionally interact and communicate with all levels and departments to accomplish goals in an effective manner.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment.
Excellent attention to detail, analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
Employ a proactive approach to problem solving and overall execution of job responsibilities.
Experience & Knowledge Needed for Position
Strong knowledge and understanding of accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
Experience with SAP, a plus.
Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in accounting required.
Bachelor\'s Degree in Accounting/Finance.
CPA required.
Physical Requirements in a Regular Workday
Rarely lifting/carrying a max of 10 lbs.
Continuously sitting, occasionally standing/walking in an office environment.
Additional Working Conditions/Aspects
Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
Legally eligible to work in the United States.
Valid driver\'s license (if applicable).
Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
Must be able to read and speak the English language.
