Position Summary The primary location of this position is the main Cullowhee, NC campus.

The School of Accounting, Finance, Information Systems and Business Law is seeking applicants for a tenure-track, nine-month accounting faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Anticipated start date of August 2026. The successful candidates will bring expertise in areas of teaching and research that complement and integrate with those of our existing accounting faculty. Our immediate need is for a colleague with academic qualifications to teach tax. A second area of interest and academic qualification is desirable. The normal teaching load is three courses (nine credit hours) per semester. Primary duty assignments will be at the main campus in Cullowhee, North Carolina; however, the duty assignments will likely involve delivery of one or more graduate classes in our online MAcc program. Instruction might be delivered in classroom, online, and/or hybrid formats.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to maintain a current, active research agenda resulting in quality scholarly publications that are relevant to the candidates area of expertise and teaching, in peer reviewed journals and/or law reviews. The candidate will be expected to be an excellent teacher. The successful candidate will advise students, be involved in appropriate student organizations, and fulfill normal institutional service obligations. Candidates should have strong records or show promise to contribute to the intellectual and practical lives of students and other stakeholders of the School, College, University, and business community.

Responsibilities The position requires delivering instruction across modes (classroom, online, and/or hybrid) and contributing to the academic community through teaching, advising, and service. The teaching load is three courses per semester (nine credit hours). Primary duties are at the Cullowhee campus with possible graduate instruction in the online MAcc program.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

Terminal degree in accounting or a related field with a concentration in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution that satisfies credentialing under SACSCOC guidelines.

Candidates possessing an LLM in tax with an accounting graduate degree will also be considered.

Established record of research or strong evidence of potential for intellectual contributions related to the accounting discipline.

ABD candidates will be considered, but must have the terminal degree conferred prior to their start date.

The position requires teaching excellence and strong scholarly productivity.

Preferred Qualifications:

Conferred doctoral degree in Accounting from an AACSB-accredited institution.

Undergraduate and/or graduate teaching experience, including use of different modalities.

Relevant work experience in accounting.

Preference may be given to an applicant with a CPA license or other relevant licensure.
