Overview

The University at Albany is accepting applications for a tenure-track Health Sciences and Systematic Review Librarian, at the rank of assistant or senior assistant librarian. This position will serve as the primary subject librarian for the College of Integrated Health Sciences, providing research support, instruction, and collection development services, and will support systematic reviews and evidence synthesis projects in collaboration with faculty, researchers, and students. The College of Integrated Health Sciences includes programs in Social Welfare, Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Environmental Health Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Health Policy Management and Behavior, and Nursing. The librarian will support faculty and students across these disciplines and contribute to departmental services as a member of the Information Literacy Department. Research, publication, and service to the Libraries, University, and profession are expected to satisfy criteria for continuing appointment (tenure) and promotion. Primary Responsibilities

Serve as the primary subject librarian for the College of Integrated Health Sciences, providing specialized research assistance, instruction, and outreach. Develop and deliver instructional sessions on information literacy, health science resources, research, evidence-based practice, and systematic review methodologies. Provide expert guidance on systematic reviews, including database searching, protocol development, citation management, and research synthesis techniques. Create and maintain subject and research guides. Create educational resources and training materials related to systematic review and evidence-based practice. Collaborate with faculty to integrate library resources and research support into curricula. Contribute to collection development, assessment, and deselection to align resources with teaching and research needs of the College. Promote library resources and services through outreach and programming initiatives. Stay current with trends in health sciences librarianship, systematic review methodologies, and scholarly communication. Contribute to and develop instruction-related projects as a member of the Information Literacy department. Work collaboratively with other subject librarians, faculty, and researchers to support interdisciplinary initiatives. Provide general reference and research assistance in person and virtually via chat or other electronic methods. Participate in library-wide initiatives, committees, and professional development opportunities. Fulfill functions expected of the University Libraries academic faculty, including scholarship and service to the profession, Libraries, and University. Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program. Minimum of one year of experience providing reference services or research consultations in an academic library. Experience providing library instruction or teaching in an academic library. Experience or coursework related to collection development activities such as selection and deselection of library resources, collection assessment, and user information needs assessment. Experience working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders in an academic environment. Ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within a diverse campus community. Ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to the role.

Preferred Qualifications

One year of experience or coursework related to information resources in health sciences or related subjects. One year of experience conducting or supporting systematic reviews, including developing search strategies and using review management software. Experience with citation management tools (e.g., EndNote, Zotero) and systematic review software (e.g., Covidence, Rayyan). Experience with health sciences databases and resources (e.g., Medline, CINAHL, Web of Science, Ovid, Cochrane Library). Experience with outreach and programming to students and faculty. A second advanced degree (master's or doctoral) in a relevant health sciences discipline.

Professional Rank and Salary Range: Assistant Librarian, $63,000; Senior Assistant Librarian, $70,000. Special Note:
