State Support Job Summary:
The Earl G Graves School of Business and Management at Morgan State University seeks to fill a tenure-track position in the Department of Information Science and Systems at Assistant level with specialization in Data Analytics applied in the business domain, beginning in August 2023. The faculty will serve as a member of the newly formed Center for Data Analytics and Sports Gaming Research (CDASGR) with 50% responsibilities to the Center and 50% to the Department. Along with other faculty responsibilities, the faculty is expected to teach 2 courses per semester during the initial two years and based on productivity, continue with that teaching load. The Center aims to study and support research into emerging technological, socio-behavioral, and attitudes towards eSports, sports wagering, problem gambling and business development trends to inform esports and gaming public policy and regulation. A startup package will be provided to the faculty. Job Duties:
This faculty position will serve the mission of Morgan State University and the Earl G Graves School of Business and Management through the activities of teaching, intellectual contributions and service. The person holding this position will be responsible for developing and teaching online and face-to-face undergraduate and graduate level courses in data analytics, information systems and/or project management. The candidate will conduct research and write and obtain grants in Data Analytics/Data Science/Sports Gaming/Information Systems leading to publishing in refereed journals and presenting the research in local and national conferences and serve as a member of professional organizations. The faculty will share their expertise in local seminars and conferences to meet the mission of the Center. The candidate will participate in Department, School and University committees. Teaching assignments will include courses in our Masters program in Data Analytics and Visualization, doctoral and undergraduate courses in Data Visualization, Data Analytics, and depending on background and qualifications, may include courses in computer literacy, management information systems, computer networks, cybersecurity, systems analysis and design, project management, supply chain management, and enterprise information systems (SAP). As a member of the CDASGR Center faculty, engagement in multidisciplinary work with faculty with very diverse backgrounds is anticipated. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other Characteristics:
The candidate must be very conversant with Data Analytics and Visualization tools and processes. Required Minimum Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate (by August 2023) in Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Management Science, Decision Sciences, Operations Research, or related disciplines with research experience in supporting data analytics at the enterprise and systems level. The candidate should have a demonstrated record of quality research and the potential for excellence in teaching. Prior work experiences that use related skills are desirable, though not necessary.
