James G. Davis Construction (DAVIS) . The Field Engineer is responsible for performing engineering duties including coordination, layout, quality control and monitoring utilized in planning and construction of our projects. Responsibilities
Perform responsibilities with excellence in service, integrity and building relationships as exemplified in DAVIS core values Install and be responsible for all survey control work for projects assigned Perform basic survey functions using measuring tape, plumb bob, chalk lines, carpenter\'s level, square, survey prisms, tribrach, tripods, pole and builders level Perform intermediate functions using data collector with manual and robotic total stations Interpret plans for layout of locations and quality control in the field Create Layout Control Sheets for projects Perform advanced plane geometry and trigonometry to determine coordinate locations for layout Determine and schedule the layout needs of the project in conjunction with the superintendents and Senior Engineer/Manager Develop monitoring reports from field data and perform analysis to ensure results are within acceptable tolerances Ensure understanding of and adherence to project-specific jurisdictional requirements as they relate to field engineering Lead quality control inspections Perform critical calculations and review calculations by others Prepare work areas at the job site for field engineering activities Monitor subcontractor performance in accordance with contract requirements and industry standards Maintain clean and organized equipment and office files; maintain project documents including posting drawings with design changes and as-built field conditions Maintain field records such as notes, sketches, reports and daily logs Interpret drawings and specifications including review of shop drawings and submittals for consistency with contract documents Maintain inventory of survey supplies needed for the project Ensure compliance with DAVIS engineering best practices Perform equipment internal calibrations and maintain calibration schedules Educate/mentor engineering staff Assist with personnel appraisals, as needed Perform other duties as assigned Common attributes

Minimum five (5) years’ construction engineering experience Associate or Bachelors degree in Engineering, Surveying, or a related field preferred Advanced knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes and standards* Ability to manage field engineering team members* Intermediate experience with software applications (CAD, modeling, data collection, etc.)* Decision making, research and analytical problem solving skills* Time management and ability to organize, assess and prioritize multiple tasks and work independently* Strong verbal and written communication skills MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) experience* Experience with robotic total stations and handheld field controllers Physical and working conditions
Physical demands: able to perform tasks requiring reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching and bending; may lift/carry up to 75 pounds; manual dexterity for office equipment; high concentration in a busy office environment Work environment: some travel for conferences, educational sessions and events; moderate office noise; exposure to higher noise levels and hazardous conditions at job sites with safety precautions provided This description covers the general nature and level of work performed and is not exhaustive Compensation and benefits
The base salary (or hourly) range for this position is $85,000.00 - $110,000.00.
