Senior Space Software Sales Engineer I/II
Littleton, CO Rocket Lab is an end-to-end space company delivering responsive launch services, complete spacecraft design and manufacturing, payloads, satellite components, and more. The rockets and satellites we build and launch enable space missions that support scientific exploration, Earth observation, climate change initiatives, national security, and technology demonstrations. Our Electron rocket has become the second most frequently launched U.S. rocket annually and has delivered more than 230 satellites to orbit. We are developing Neutron, our upcoming medium-lift, reusable launch vehicle for larger constellation deployment. Our Space Systems business designs and builds satellites, payloads, and components, including spacecraft selected to support NASA missions to the Moon and Mars and components used on the James Webb Space Telescope. What you’ll get to do
Work with the engineering team to provide technical support to customers Develop interactive product demonstrations of Rocket Lab’s space software products Generate proposals for new business opportunities in collaboration with the business development and engineering teams Lead efforts to attract new business to the company’s established products Work with the business development team to monitor business performance, forecast demand, and present to the Finance and Executive teams Collaborate with the Communications and Business Development teams in generating marketing materials Lead efforts to improve and standardize customer-facing product technical documentation Remain current on the latest satellite competitive landscape, customer demand trends, and market to support forecasting of component sales, support pricing, support new product development, and provide support for the Space Systems product and services roadmap Monitor product costs to inform pricing decisions and design/process trades Travel to relevant conferences and customer locations to lead component business development activities Qualifications
Senior Space Software Sales Engineer I Bachelor's degree in engineering or other technical discipline 5+ years of professional experience in an engineering role within the aerospace industry Senior Space Software Sales Engineer II Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical discipline 8+ years of professional experience in an engineering role within the aerospace industry Nice to have
Experience developing software for autonomous vehicles operating in harsh environments, such as satellites Experience with satellite operations Proficiency in C++, Python or similar programming languages Highly organized and able to solve problems independently, with strong attention to detail Ability to collaborate effectively with team members having diverse skillsets and expertise Ability to communicate complex issues in a digestible manner for customers, staff, and executives Excellent written and verbal communications skills Sales management experience and familiarity with diverse business functions such as sales, marketing, public relations, finance, and operations Extensive awareness of current commercial and government satellite programs Experience working with dynamic, geographically dispersed teams on fast-paced projects Ownership mindset and ability to lead through challenging situations Experience with customer relationship management software Master’s degree in aerospace engineering or related field (electrical, mechanical, computer science, etc.) Additional requirements
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing Must be physically able to commute to buildings Occasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate levels of noise The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Base salary is only one part of Rocket Lab’s compensation package for this role. You may be eligible for company stock or cash incentives and can purchase discounted stock through Rocket Lab’s Employee Stock Purchase Program.
