Overview
Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Senior Evolved Strategic Systems (ESS) Program Systems Integration Engineer to join our team in El Segundo, CA. Work is on-site in a secure facility due to security requirements. You will join a Systems Engineering team defining the next generation of space communication systems supporting Air Force Military Satellite Communications. The Systems Integration Engineer will interface and collaborate with SEI team members, contractors, government civilians and members of the USAF. The role includes leading and supporting several working groups responsible for technical discussions, risk identification, requirement gaps, developing briefings, tracking action items, and authoring meeting minutes. The MILSATCOM Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (MSEIT) effort provides leading edge SE&I for the Air Force's Space and Missiles System Center, supporting the Air Force’s acquisition of state-of-the-art Military Satellite Communications systems for global, secure, survivable, and protected communications. Responsibilities
Develop and implement integration strategies and processes to integrate satellite communication systems, segments (Ground, Space, Crypto, Terminals), subsystems, elements, and components; manage the technical baselines among different stakeholders Perform analysis of the systems requirements that define the technical baseline and verify the baseline Apply Digital Engineering methods and modeling strategies (e.g., Digital twins) to support integration and test activities Collaborate with Government and contractor personnel to close gaps in customer requirements; support major requirements reviews, design reviews, and other related meetings Lead and support Government/Contractor Working Group meetings by developing briefings, leading discussions, and writing minutes to address/resolve risks, issues, and action items Review proposed changes to the technical baseline for impacts to enterprise capabilities and cross-stakeholder integration concerns Define and deliver alternative solutions to address integration challenges; manage schedule impact and overall delivery of products Facilitate review of program documents by providing comments, compiling reviewer comments, and working with contractors to adjudicate Serve as a subject matter expert to assess technical issues and prepare briefings to U.S. Space Force program office personnel and other stakeholders; provide courses of action to support Government decisions Support management of risks, issues, interdependencies, identifying schedule disconnects and conflicts, developing action plans for resolution, and assisting the Government in executing selected solutions Work Environment
Location: On-site Travel Requirements: Minimal Working Hours: Standard Qualifications
Required: Active Secret clearance required with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance MS in a technical field, such as engineering or computer science 15+ years demonstrated experience in Systems Engineering 10+ years demonstrated experience leading technical teams Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, and presentation skills Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) On-site work in a secure facility due to security requirements Desired: PhD in a technical field such as engineering, mathematics, physics, or computer science Experience with MILSATCOM (e.g., AEHF, PTS, EPS, WGS, FAB-T terminal programs) Experience working with military and DoD civilians Experience with ground and airborne systems, such as terminals and networks Demonstrated strong Systems Engineering and Technical Leadership experience Knowledge of Agile Development and collaboration tools (Jira/Confluence) Compensation
The pay range for this position in California is $140,000/year to $200,000/year; base pay may vary based on contract ranges, knowledge, skills, and experience.
