Maverick Transport Inc. is a fast-moving 3PL scaling aggressively — and we need a Sales Manager who can build, guide, and grow a team of freight sales winners while charting Maverick’s sales direction for the future. This isn’t a cushy “sit in the office and watch” role. We want someone who can lead from the front — actively training and coaching sales reps and account managers, staying involved in their day-to-day work, and keeping the team accountable. You’ll shape long-term sales strategy, roll up your sleeves to close deals, and guide the team in real time. Just as important: you’ll ensure our reps are pursuing the right customers, at the right margins, with the right expectations. What You’ll Be Doing Recruit, train, and mentor freight sales reps and commission agents Build and maintain your own book of business (lead by example) Set team sales goals, KPIs, and accountability systems Provide daily training, coaching, and oversight of both sales reps and account managers — ensuring they stay on top of pipelines, customer relationships, and AR responsibilities Develop and execute Maverick’s long-term sales strategy: identify profitable industries and regions, anticipate market shifts, and align the team with broader growth goals Establish clear standards for ideal customer profiles, profitability thresholds, and creditworthiness — guiding reps on who to target and who to avoid Ensure customer quality: spot red flags, enforce payment expectations, and protect Maverick from risky accounts Build structured training and coaching plans that develop reps and account managers into consultative sellers, not just order-takers Drive a culture of accountability: set expectations, review performance, and ensure reps stay on top of pipeline activity, customer communication, and AR status Work cross-functionally with operations, compliance, and accounting to align customer expectations with Maverick’s standards Provide guidance and oversight for commission-based sales agents to ensure alignment with Maverick’s sales approach Foster a competitive, collaborative sales culture — celebrating wins and addressing gaps quickly What We’re Looking For 5+ years in freight brokerage/logistics sales, with at least 2 in a leadership role Strong book of business and proven track record of winning new accounts Deep understanding of customer vetting, profitability, and AR risk management Demonstrated success mentoring and scaling a sales team Excellent communication, leadership, and negotiation skills High-energy, metrics-driven, and relentless about results Experience with CRM/pipeline management tools (bonus: TMS knowledge) Entrepreneurial mindset — able to build processes as well as people Competitive base salary + personal and team commission incentives Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match PTO, paid holidays Direct impact, leadership visibility, and upward mobility Why Maverick? 40+ years in logistics with a reputation for reliability Extensive vetted carrier base across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, import/export, and global reach Full-service offerings: vans, reefers, flatbeds, containers, drayage, heavy haul, warehousing, special projects, and more Constantly upgrading technology (TMS, Highway, etc.) to stay ahead of the curve A supportive operations and account management team that ensures sales gets delivered We’re looking for a proven sales leader who knows how to train and coach sales reps and account managers daily, close deals, shape long-term strategy, guide customer focus, and protect a brokerage from bad business.
