Overview

Senior Architect - Facilities and Real Estate Management (Civil Service) – City of Dallas. Serves as a project manager for the design and construction of City projects including planning, design, bid preparation, cost estimation, and monitoring of construction compliance. Manages the design, construction, and related architectural functions for large-scale Capital Improvement projects and serves as the key design professional for buildings, systems, signage, utility requirements, and ADA issues for projects across the City. Responsibilities

Directs, oversees, and supervises architectural design on renovation and new construction projects; manages design consultant selection, contracting, and collection of stakeholder requirements. Reviews, checks, and evaluates designs for code compliance; maintains permit documents; designs and implements project schedules; manages scope, schedule, and budget with approved adjustments. Manages construction and implementation processes on renovation and new construction projects; coordinates and issues construction documents for public bid; manages City approvals for award of construction contracts in partnership with design consultants. Reviews and approves consultant invoices and construction pay applications; tracks progress to support payments; maintains audit-ready records and oversees close-out and turnover for occupancy. Supports non-City owned projects on City property as a resource to tenants, design consultants, and developers; handles inquiries related to initiating, obtaining approvals, permitting, and close-out requirements. Manages and directs work of subordinates, including interns; monitors timesheets, work product, performance, and understanding of department responsibilities in design, construction, and occupancy. Drafts, prepares, and presents reports on project scope, schedule, budget, and status. Serves as internal resource for contracting, accounts payable, and architectural archives; coordinates with internal stakeholders on emergency management, security, IT, operations, maintenance, accessibility, and facilities management in support of architectural projects. Attends and conducts training to ensure continuing education and up-to-date licensing for architects performing City work. Performs any other work as needed or assigned. Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of architecture design and implementation. Knowledge of the building and construction process. Knowledge of regulatory and legal issues related to building design and construction. Knowledge of design systems and software. Knowledge of project management. Ability to supervise and develop subordinate staff with training and certifications. Ability to determine code requirements and design of structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Ability to manage budgets, grants, and bond programs. Effective verbal and written communication. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Minimum Qualifications

Education Bachelor's degree in Architecture from an accredited university. Experience Four (4) years of experience as a licensed architect, including familiarity with construction cost estimating, CAD drafting, project administration, scheduling, and building materials and methods of construction. Equivalency Master's degree (or higher) in Architecture from an accredited university plus two (2) years of the required experience meets education and experience requirements. Licenses Valid driver's license with good driving record. Current License issued by the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners OR an architect license from other state(s) with a NCARB certificate. Salary Range $85,183.59 - $106,479.49. The starting salary range is listed; the actual offer depends on qualifications. City of Dallas is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
