Location: Everett, WA Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking for an Associate (Level 2) or Experienced (Level 3) Flight Deck Crew Operations Engineer to work in Everett, WA. Come join the team that designs, tests, and certifies industry-leading, state-of-the-art Flight Decks for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. You will work with pilots from around the world to deliver industry-leading flight decks and support our designs through their service life. In this role you will define the look and feel of the pilot interface from conception to the end of its service life and collaborate with pilots, engineers, customers, regulators, and suppliers to deliver flight deck solutions. Primary responsibilities: Design, test, and certify the look, feel, and operational behavior of the flight deck from concept through service life, including entry into service and post-entry support. Establish design requirements for changes and enhancements to the flight crew interface on existing or new commercial airplane models; test and implement those enhancements. Support product development efforts to identify technologies that increase aviation safety and add value. Use an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, develop, verify, and validate requirements. Participate in or lead design teams; collaborate with avionics, other engineering groups, customer airline personnel, regulators, and suppliers. Work with a wide variety of pilot disciplines including flight test, technical and procedural, training, customer airlines, and regulators. Prototype cockpit layouts using computing tools and validate design requirements and flight deck design philosophies during test programs using analysis, simulators, and flight test airplanes. Ensure practical application of Boeing Flight Deck and human factors design principles, ensuring commonality and integration with other objectives. Basic qualifications (required): Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or related field; or non-U.S. equivalent. Level 2: 2+ years of related work experience or equivalent; Level 3: 5+ years of related work experience or equivalent. Some travel may be required, domestic or international; frequent travel to local Puget Sound sites. Ability to effectively communicate with different engineering teams to reach consensus on complex technical issues. Preferred qualifications (desired): Human factors experience in aerospace/flight operations. Pilot certification or experience; flight crew operations experience. Experience working with regulators and customers. Familiarity with the Flight Management Computer (FMC) interface and basic functions, including differences between models (e.g., 737, 777, 787). Understanding of FMC interaction with other aircraft systems (autopilot, navigation, etc.). Understanding of aircraft navigation sensors at a Systems Design Description level.
