Overview
Job Title: Salesforce Principal Engineer / Architect (Contract to Hire)
Location: Columbus, OH (Remote to start w/ monthly travel; Hybrid Tue–Thu onsite required after 6 months)
Contract Duration: 6-month contract-to-hire
Rate: $90–$100/hour (W-2 only)
Employment Type: W-2 (U.S. Citizens or Green Card holders only — no visa sponsorships)
Position Summary We are seeking a
Salesforce Principal Engineer
to join a fast-paced, mission-driven enterprise transformation program within the utilities sector. This role will focus on Salesforce Field Service architecture, APEX code review, technical coaching, and integration support — particularly around
MuleSoft . The engineer will help build out scalable and secure solutions, support Agile delivery, and play a key leadership role in transitioning from outsourced vendors to internal teams. This is a hybrid role (onsite Tue–Thu) after 6 months with a strong focus on cross-functional collaboration and system optimization.
Responsibilities
Provide architectural guidance and conduct APEX
code reviews and coaching
across Salesforce Field Service implementations.
Build and manage
technical roadmaps , system documentation, and application health reviews.
Collaborate with architects, business stakeholders, and outsourced technical staff to maintain high system integrity and alignment with enterprise standards.
Lead
software lifecycle management , including development, release, and documentation processes.
Oversee
integration strategy
and troubleshooting, with a strong dependency on
MuleSoft
for system connectivity.
Partner with business and technical teams to ensure cross-platform functionality and support complex Field Service business use cases.
Ensure compliance with internal architecture standards, update design artifacts, and contribute to the technology roadmap.
Lead
knowledge transfer, mentorship , and support training of new team members as part of long-term insourcing strategy.
Technical Requirements
Fluent in APEX coding and code review
Deep understanding of
Salesforce Field Service
and associated configuration/integration models.
Proficient in
REST and SOAP APIs
and integration using
MuleSoft
10+ years of experience in Salesforce engineering or architecture
Experience working in hybrid/on-prem and cloud environments
Familiarity with legacy systems and modern computing architectures
Experience managing technology costs and evaluating platform effectiveness
Non-Technical Requirements
Strong ability to present to senior leadership and technical staff
Excellent written documentation and communication skills
Ability to collaborate across business, operations, and IT teams in a matrixed environment
Experience working in or managing Agile DevOps teams
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting digital field service or work and asset management initiatives
Background in the
utility or energy sector
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
