Tenure-Track Faculty Position MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (MIT) CAMBRIDGE, MA The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions with a start date of July 1, 2026 or a mutually agreeable date thereafter. The department is conducting a search for exceptional candidates in any discipline related to aerospace engineering, broadly defined, with particular interests in: (i) aircraft design, (ii) air traffic management, (iii) fluid dynamics and mechanics, and (iv) bioastronautics. Responsibilities
Teach classes at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Advise students and develop course materials at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Conduct original scholarly research and contribute to the department's research programs. Engage in service to the Institute and the profession. Qualifications
Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in a field related to aerospace engineering or another relevant science or engineering field by the beginning of employment. Open to applicants at the assistant professor level; under special circumstances, an untenured associate professor or senior faculty appointment is possible, commensurate with experience. Ability to contribute to research and education in aerospace engineering and related disciplines. Compensation
The pay range for a 9-month academic appointment at the entry-level Assistant Professor rank (excluding summer salary): $140,000 – $150,000. The pay offered during hiring will be based on factors including scope and responsibilities, experience, education, internal peer equity, and applicable legal requirements. This pay range represents base pay only and does not include other benefits or compensation. Application Materials
