Overview
The University of Virginia seeks a Senior Research Scientist for the newly established National Security Data and Policy Institute. This role will conduct original research and coordinate Institute deliverables. The Senior Research Scientist will lead independent research in their specialty area and collaborate with internal and external research teams. The position reports to the NSDPI Research Program Director and will oversee a research team that includes post-doctoral researchers, graduate students, and undergraduate interns. This is a full-time in-person position with a negotiable flexible schedule after the first two months. Regular in-person attendance at meetings and events is required throughout the year. Areas of expertise appropriate for the position include the social sciences, biological sciences, physical sciences, and biological, chemical, and systems engineering. Minimum Qualifications
US Citizenship Education: Master\'s Degree Experience: At least three years of relevant experience Preferred Qualifications
Possess or be eligible to be granted US government security clearance PhD in the Social Sciences, Biological Science, Physical Sciences, or related field Experience in national security or intelligence Physical Demands
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job may occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs. About the Position
This position will remain open until filled. This position is a restricted position and is dependent upon project need, availability of funding, and performance. The anticipated hiring range for this role is $90,000-110,000 commensurate with education and experience. This position will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
