Bldg/Medical School, New Orleans School/Division: MEDICAL SCHOOL Department: Pediatrics Position Summary The Division of Pediatric Cardiology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) and the Heart Center of the Manning Family Children’s of New Orleans (MFC) is seeking a Pediatric Cardiologist to serve as the Cardiac Imaging Director. The candidate should be an established subspecialist in Cardiac Imaging. Academic appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor (non-tenure, clinical track) and will be determined by the candidate’s credentials and experience. Manning Family Children’s is the founding member of a 7-hospital health system titled LCMC (Louisiana Children’s Medical Center). The Heart Center Faculty includes a team of 25 physicians including seven cardiac intensivists, two cardiac surgeons, and four cardiac anesthesiologists. Subspecialty care in the Heart Center includes non-invasive imaging, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, expertise in Fontan management, home-monitoring, neurodevelopment, pulmonary hypertension, pediatric coronary artery disease, and heart failure. Currently, approximately 300 heart catheterizations (75% interventional) and 300 cardiothoracic surgeries, and 11,000 ambulatory visits are performed each year at Manning Family Children’s. The hospital is a 247-bed tertiary-care teaching complex located in the historic and vibrant Uptown area of New Orleans. It serves the entire state of Louisiana and the central Gulf Coast region. The hospital just completed a $300 million renovation and expansion which included a brand new 28-bed state-of-the-art dedicated cardiac intensive care unit, two new and dedicated cardiac operating rooms, and two new and dedicated cardiac catheterization suites. Additional capital was spent on general infrastructure such that the hospital’s buildings and campus are one of the most beautiful in the country. The Cardiac Imaging Section of the Division includes five imaging faculty with expertise in transthoracic, transesophageal, and fetal echocardiography. The Echocardiography Laboratory is ICAEL-accredited. There are ten certified cardiac sonographers assisting the Faculty in the Laboratory. In addition, the Section provides cardiac CT and MRI expertise through a collaboration between two of our imaging specialists and the hospital’s radiology department. The Section actively participates in teaching medical students/residents and our six LSU Pediatric Cardiology Fellows. Finally, the Section has active research and quality improvement initiatives.
