Financial Operations Manager, Engineering
Ditto Job Board, Atlanta, Georgia, United States, 30383
Overview
Financial Operations Manager (Engineering) will live within the Engineering organization and report to the CTO. You will be the key liaison between Infrastructure Engineering, Finance, and Procurement, responsible for optimizing cloud spend, negotiating vendor contracts (particularly AWS and related infrastructure vendors), driving cost visibility and forecasting, and influencing architecture decisions with a financial lens. You will partner closely with engineering leads, data teams, and finance to balance performance, scalability, and cost, helping Ditto scale infrastructure affordably and responsibly. What You’ll Be Up To
Lead end-to-end negotiations for cloud service agreements (e.g. AWS EDP, Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, SaaS infrastructure contracts). Construct negotiation strategies that balance technical flexibility, scale, and cost efficiency. Establish and maintain relationships with cloud provider account teams (TAMs, field reps, business dev). Build and manage a vendor sourcing / renewal calendar and roadmap. Cost Monitoring, Forecasting & Optimization: Oversee cloud spend forecasting, budgeting, and tracking, partnering with Finance to align forecasts to corporate goals. Partner with engineering and infrastructure leads to model and monitor unit economics per workload, product, or service. Identify and drive cost reduction initiatives — rightsizing, workload scheduling, utilization optimization, multi-region tradeoffs, etc. Deploy and maintain cloud cost visibility tools, dashboards, and reporting (e.g. AWS Cost Explorer, CloudHealth, custom dashboards). Serve as the financial lens for architecture and infrastructure decisions across engineering. Influence roadmap prioritization by surfacing cost/leverage tradeoffs. Educate engineers and product teams about cost tradeoffs, finite infrastructure budgets, and efficiency practices. Facilitate regular reviews (e.g. monthly cloud cost review, architecture reviews with cost input). Process & Governance
Define and enforce FinOps governance processes (chargeback showbacks, cost reviews, trend tracking). Create playbooks, templates, and standard operating procedures for cloud cost management, contract negotiation, and renewal. Stay up-to-date on provider pricing changes, new discount programs or marketplace offerings, and competitive vendor alternatives. What Helps You Thrive
