The IT Director leads the strategic planning, development, implementation, and oversight of all information technology systems and infrastructure at the Credit Union. This individual is responsible for ensuring the secure, stable, and efficient operation of IT systems in alignment with organizational goals, industry regulations, and best practices. The role involves hands-on technical leadership, vendor management, cybersecurity oversight, and strategic alignment of technology initiatives with business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute the IT strategy, aligning with the credit union’s goals for member services, operations, compliance, and digital banking innovation Lead and manage IT operations including infrastructure, cybersecurity, core banking systems, disaster recovery, help desk support, and digital platforms Oversee cybersecurity policies, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance, including NCUA, FFIEC, GLBA, and other applicable standards Direct the administration of core banking platforms (e.g., Symitar, Fiserv, Jack Henry), ensuring system uptime, upgrades, integrations, and vendor coordination Provide leadership to IT staff, fostering professional development, performance accountability, and a culture of service and innovation Manage IT budget, vendor contracts, licensing, and technology procurement, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with business priorities Collaborate with executive leadership to recommend technology solutions that enhance operational efficiency, member experience, and digital transformation Establish and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans, ensuring systems are resilient and secure Stay current on trends in IT and financial services technology, and assess their applicability to the credit union’s evolving needs Qualifications
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS, or related field (Master’s preferred) 7+ years of progressive IT experience, with 3+ years in a leadership or managerial role Experience in the financial services industry, preferably with credit unions or community banks Strong knowledge of networking, infrastructure, cybersecurity, core banking systems, and IT compliance Proven project management and team leadership skills Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as NCUA, GLBA, FFIEC, and cybersecurity standards (e.g., NIST) Preferred: Certifications such as CISM, CISSP, CompTIA Security+, PMP, AWS, or Microsoft Azure Experience leading digital transformation initiatives such as online banking, mobile platforms, or API integrations
