Position Information Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

Patient care: We promote health and provide superb clinical care while maintaining our strong tradition of reaching underserved populations and reducing health disparities across North Carolina and beyond.
Education: We prepare tomorrow's healthcare professionals and biomedical researchers from all backgrounds by facilitating learning within innovative and integrated curricula and team-oriented interprofessional education to ensure a highly skilled workforce.
Research: We develop and support a rich array of outstanding health sciences research programs, centers and resources. We provide infrastructure and opportunities for collaboration among disciplines throughout and beyond our university to support outstanding research. We foster programs in the areas of basic, translational, mechanistic and population research.
Position Summary The Department of Anesthesiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a pediatric anesthesiologist to join our team at UNC's flagship Children's Hospital, on a per diem or as needed basis. Our pediatric anesthesiology practice includes all sub-specialties and spans the spectrum from healthy outpatients to complex neonatal surgery. UNC Children's Hospital is a major regional referral center with pediatric ICU, neonatal ICU, pediatric ECMO, cardiac, burn, trauma, pain, sedation, solid organ and bone marrow transplantation programs.
The Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology provides over 12,000 anesthetics per year to the children of North Carolina and surrounding states. The department has an active ACGME-accredited pediatric anesthesiology fellowship and serves as the pediatric anesthesiology training site for the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. Our department has a robust Global Health program, a state-of-the-art simulation lab and a strong relationship with the UNC School of Medicine. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Requires a medical degree (MD, DO or equivalent). Must have completed an ACGME accredited Anesthesiology Residency program as well as Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship program (by the anticipated start date) and be ABA certified or eligible. Candidates must be eligible for licensure in North Carolina.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Preference for individuals who have experience working in an academic setting, teaching graduate level learners (interns, residents, fellows), working in a team which includes CRNAs, CAAs and collaborating with other services.
