The Laboratory Technical Support Specialist is a multi-skilled position that efficiently processes patient and specimen workflow to support the Laboratory's commitment to provide accurate, reliable, and timely information to clinicians. The Laboratory Technical Support Specialist (TSS) provides professional, courteous, and competent phlebotomy and/or clerical services for Hospital inpatients, outpatients, physicians, nursing staff, and support services.
Process patient and specimen workflow to support accurate, reliable, and timely information for clinicians.
Provide professional, courteous phlebotomy and/or clerical services for inpatients, outpatients, physicians, nursing staff, and support services.
May be scheduled to any El Camino Health location/draw station based on need and may work across campuses within a 15-mile radius.
Available to work weekends on a rotational basis and holidays as needed; flexible hours with varied start times.
Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent
One year phlebotomy experience in hospital setting, including venipuncture for all ages and neonatal capillary collection (preferred)
One year experience in specimen accessioning and registration (preferred)
Basic PC-based knowledge; experience with networked environments and medical-clinical applications (preferred)
Manual dexterity and ability to learn new procedures and updates within a specified time frame
Must speak, write, and read sufficient English for patient care and customer service activities
Experience in specimen processing (aliquoting, centrifuging), microbiology plating and slide preparation (preferred)
Available to work weekends on a rotational basis and holidays as needed; able to work flexible hours
May be scheduled to any El Camino Health location/draw station depending on need
Available enterprise-wide and other shifts occasionally as needed for work assignments
L icense/Certification/Registration: California Phlebotomy Certification (CPT 1)
Salary Range:
$38.58 - $48.78 USD Hourly Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
