Overview
The General Manager (GM) is the local business owner with a shopkeeper mindset responsible for making things happen, driving business priorities to achieve financial results in the respective store. The GM leads by example, is curious and influential, and serves as a floor-present leader who develops the store team and sets a customer-first standard for an outstanding customer experience. Essential Functions
The GM has an entrepreneurial mindset and strong business acumen, drives local growth, uses data and intuition to support decisions, collaborates with partners, and maintains elevated standards in service and visuals. Focuses on the customer and champions the omnichannel model; leads strategies to enhance customer discovery, conversion, and relationships, delivering differentiated services and experiences. Builds strong internal and external relationships, partners cross-functionally to drive store performance, and acts as a brand ambassador in the local market. Demonstrates passion for merchandising and product, articulates market needs, partners with merchants to strategize opportunities, and balances creative and analytical approaches to maximize results. Acts as the chief talent manager and owner of talent in the store; motivates teams, sets clear expectations with accountability, and coaches for development of future store leaders. Maintains strong command presence and clear communication, inspires customers and colleagues, and leads with empowerment as a culture creator. Shows operational proficiency with P&L fundamentals, manages expenses and shortages, capitalizes on opportunities, and drives key performance indicators with a high say-do ratio. Adapts to a fast-paced environment, prioritizes effectively, coordinates multiple projects, and implements retail strategies that drive business outcomes. Qualifications And Competencies
Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year college or university. 5+ years direct experience. Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays. Essential Physical Requirements
Position requires prolonged periods of standing/walking around store or department. May involve reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping and color vision. Frequent use of computers and handheld devices; ability to process transactions. Frequently lift/move up to 25 lbs.
