Work Arrangement Hybrid : This role is categorized as hybrid and based in Mountain View, CA. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Mountain View office three times per week at minimum. The Role : The General Motors Commercial Software Team is responsible for delivering digital experiences that enable business fleet, vehicle rental, and government customers to operate their vehicles more safely and effectively. We create digital touchpoints that increase customer loyalty and offer safety, security, and fleet management applications, as well as insights, APIs, and data services to maximize the value of GM vehicles. We’re seeking a seasoned Staff Product Manager to lead the development of GM’s Commercial Software platform, with a focus on enabling scalable e-commerce capabilities including billing, payments, subscriptions, and marketplace experiences. This role is critical in designing and growing a robust monetization ecosystem that supports complex pricing models, recurring billing, and seamless digital experiences for our fleet customers. The ideal candidate will bring at least 7 years of product management experience, including demonstrated experience building and scaling e-commerce platforms. A solid understanding of the subscription lifecycle, billing systems, and payment processing is highly valued, as is the ability to work across highly cross-functional teams including engineering, design, and operations. While the emphasis is on commerce and monetization, this is strategic and cross-functional role -that requires ownership of diverse product initiatives – contributing to broader platform and customer experience goals. What You’ll Do End-to-End Product Management: Drive the full product lifecycle—from discovery and requirements to development, testing, launch, and continuous improvement—with a focus on measurable outcomes. E-Commerce and Monetization Infrastructure: Lead the development and evolution of e-commerce capabilities, including pricing engines, payment workflows, checkout experiences, and subscription management tools. Stakeholder Alignment: Work closely with design, engineering, business stakeholders, and senior leadership to ensure alignment on priorities, timelines, and goals. Execution Excellence: Write clear and concise product requirements, lead sprint planning, support execution through agile ceremonies, and actively remove blockers. Customer & Market Insight: Leverage data, customer feedback, and market research to identify opportunities, prioritize roadmaps, and validate decisions. Communication & Influence: Regularly communicate product vision, roadmaps, and performance updates to senior leadership and cross-functional partners. Team Collaboration: Foster a collaborative environment across multiple teams and disciplines, providing mentorship to junior PMs and helping drive a product-first culture. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field 7+ years of experience in software product management, preferably within B2B SaaS or platform-based environments Hands-on experience building and launching e-commerce platforms (e.g., pricing engines, cart/checkout, payments) Deep understanding of billing, payment, and subscription management systems Demonstrated ability to work effectively with engineering, design, operations, and business teams Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and prioritization skills Experience writing user stories, defining success metrics (KPIs), and managing product backlogs Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a track record of engaging and influencing senior leadership Demonstrated track record of end-to-end ownership and accountability in product delivery What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) Experience with tools like Zuora, Shopify, Recurly, Stripe, or similar platforms Prior experience in high-scale enterprise SaaS or automotive software ecosystems Familiarity with fleet services or commercial transportation domains Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and pick up new domains quickly Compensation : The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of the California Bay Area.
