The
PeopleSoft Configuration Specialist
is responsible for configuring, maintaining, and optimizing PeopleSoft HCM and related modules to support HHS business operations. This role ensures that PeopleSoft systems are aligned with business processes, federal compliance requirements, and organizational objectives. The specialist works closely with HR, Payroll, Finance, IT teams, and other stakeholders to implement system configurations, perform testing, and support system enhancements. The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on experience with PeopleSoft HCM or Financials modules, a strong understanding of configuration best practices, and experience working in federal enterprise environments. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills are required to manage system configurations and provide guidance to stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
PeopleSoft Configuration & Maintenance Configure PeopleSoft HCM, Financials, or Self-Service modules to meet business requirements. Implement configuration changes for HR processes, payroll, benefits, position management, security roles, and approvals. Collaborate with functional teams to identify system gaps and provide configuration-based solutions. Apply patches, updates, and PeopleSoft Image upgrades in coordination with technical teams. Troubleshoot configuration-related system issues and coordinate resolutions. System Testing & Validation
Develop and execute test plans for system changes, enhancements, and upgrades. Conduct unit testing, functional testing, regression testing, and support user acceptance testing (UAT). Validate data integrity and workflow functionality post-configuration changes. Document test results, issues, and recommended corrective actions. Stakeholder Collaboration
Partner with HR, Payroll, Finance, and IT teams to gather requirements and implement system changes. Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for PeopleSoft configurations, providing guidance and support to end users and technical teams. Assist with training and knowledge transfer to internal staff and end users. Support governance and change management processes related to system configurations. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain up-to-date documentation for configurations, workflows, business processes, and SOPs. Provide configuration impact analysis for system enhancements and upgrades. Develop reports to monitor system performance, compliance, and configuration integrity. Support audits by providing configuration documentation, workflows, and validation procedures. Security & Compliance
Configure and maintain PeopleSoft security roles and access permissions in accordance with federal policies. Ensure system configurations comply with FISMA, OMB, and HHS policies. Monitor system changes to maintain compliance with internal controls and audit requirements. Qualifications and Skills
U.S. Citizen
and eligible to obtain and maintain a
Public Trust clearance . Bachelor’s degree
in Information Systems, Computer Science, HR Systems, Finance, or related field. 5+ years of experience
configuring and supporting PeopleSoft HCM, Financials, or Self-Service modules. Hands-on experience with PeopleSoft
Core HR, Payroll, Benefits, Time & Labor, Position Management, or Security
modules. Experience with PeopleSoft tools including
PeopleTools, Query, Application Designer, and Workflow Designer . Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to interact with federal stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced federal environment. Desired Skills and Competencies
Experience working in
federal HR or financial environments , preferably HHS. Familiarity with PeopleSoft 9.2 and PeopleTools 8.57+. Knowledge of
integration with third-party systems
and workflow automation. Experience supporting PeopleSoft
image updates, patches, or upgrades . Certifications such as
Oracle PeopleSoft HCM, Financials, or PeopleTools . Experience with
ServiceNow or Jira ticketing systems . Flexible work from home options available.
