Position Summary:
Animal Emergency and Specialty Center is seeking a talented and collaborative Imaging Veterinarian with expertise in ultrasound, CT and endoscopy to support our specialty services, emergency teams and our community practices. You will play a key role in diagnostic imaging, closely collaborating with our emergency veterinarians, surgeon and referring practices to guide treatment plans.
We provide 24-hour emergency and critical care, surgery, and chemotherapy to the patients of over 75 referring hospitals from Northern Nevada as well as California.
Animal Emergency and Specialty Center is located in Reno, Nevada, with close proximity to the eastern Sierra Nevada mountains and beautiful Lake Tahoe. Reno is the perfect location for an outdoor enthusiast with skiing, hiking, mountain biking, camping, fishing, and trail running right outside your front door.
Key Responsibilities: Ultrasound Perform and interpret abdominal, musculoskeletal, and small-part ultrasounds Perform US guided aspirates/biopsies Perform cardiac ultrasound and prepare appropriate video clips and images to submit for cardiologist interpretation Engage in client communication and produce high-quality, timely reports for referring veterinarians and internal teams Mentor veterinary technicians and assistants in imaging procedures and best practices CT (Computed Tomography) Perform and interpret CT imaging; prepare and submit images for radiologist interpretation Perform CT guided aspirates/biopsies Mentor veterinary technicians and assistants in imaging procedures and best practices Engage in client communication and maintain timely medical records
Endoscopy Perform flexible and rigid endoscopic procedures (GI, respiratory, urogenital, etc.) Engage in client communication and produce high-quality, timely reports for referring veterinarians and internal teams
Additional Duties: Support and train team members on safe and effective imaging practices Maintain compliance with safety protocols, including radiation safety Participate in continuing education and skill development Stay up to date on technological advances in veterinary imaging Required: DVM or equivalent degree Proficiency with ultrasound, CT, and endoscopy
Preferred: Board-certified (ACVR/ECVDI) or residency-trained in veterinary radiology or diagnostic imaging; board-eligible candidates are encouraged to apply Advanced imaging training or certifications Experience working in a specialty or emergency veterinary hospital
