SUMMARY:
Under direct supervision of the Environmental Services Supervisor, performs a variety of cleaning duties to maintain an assigned area of the hospital, or its related buildings, in a sanitary and orderly condition. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assembles materials and supplies from supply rooms, stock service carts, checks power equipment, transports to assigned work area, performs daily cleaning and supplying of the area, as defined on the floor schedule in accordance with established departmental procedures, prescribed methods and standards. Returns unused supplies to supply room at the end of shift, cleans equipment used in performance of duties and stores it properly. Prepares cleaning solutions, dusts windowsills, blinds, furniture and other items. Empties and cleans wastebaskets, dry mops floors, cleans and polishes metal and porcelain fixtures in bathrooms, offices and patient rooms. Cleans showers and toilets, damp dusts or vacuums chairs and other items, males beds with clean linens. Performs discharge cleaning of patient rooms, assists in the cleaning of observed emergency spills upon request. Vacuums rugs and carpets. Washes walls and ceilings, cleans lighting fixtures, tops of windows and doorframes. Hangs bedside curtains and drapes, moves furniture to clean area, notifying supervisor when assistance is necessary. Transports trash and linen to designated areas, waxes and buffs floors, compacts trash following established hospital procedures, packs infectious waste, changes draperies or cubicle curtains, as needed. Maintains assigned equipment and work area in a clean, orderly and safe condition. Reports necessary repairs to equipment, furniture, building and fixtures to supervisor. Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control. Performs duties assigned in accordance with hospital procedures during fire, or internal/community disaster. Performs all heavy duty cleaning functions as required. Operates power equipment as needed. Transports furniture and equipment in accordance with department policies. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE: High school graduate or equivalent level of education preferred Effective interpersonal communication skills. Read, write legibly and speak English. EXPERIENCE: One to three months to proficiently perform all basic duties. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Healthcare environment such as acute care hospitals, physician office and/or ancillary healthcare enterprise. Any potential workplace hazards are minimized or nullified by adherence to established safety procedures and precautions including the use of safety equipment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Physical ability to perform required tasks and ability to lift 25 pounds. Pay Range: $17.00-$25.31
