Are you organized, solution-driven, and passionate about improving patient access to care? Join us as a
Referral Support Specialist
and play a key role in the specialty medication journey. In this position, you’ll work within a
healthcare services and insurance setting , helping ensure patients receive the right specialty medications from the right pharmacies — quickly and accurately. You’ll serve as the operational link between
prescribers, payers, and specialty pharmacies , managing referral workflows, resolving escalations, and supporting continuity of care.
This role is
onsite in Pittsburgh’s Strip District
and is ideal for someone who thrives in a high-accountability, mission-focused environment.
Location:
Onsite – Strip District, Pittsburgh, PA Pay:
$22/hour Schedule:
Full-time, Monday–Friday Shifts:
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
or
11:00 AM – 8:00 PM
What You’ll Do Oversee referral workflows and
coordinate specialty medication referrals
to appropriate pharmacies Monitor referrals from intake to fulfillment, ensuring
timely on-boarding, eligibility updates, and therapy adherence Reassign referrals when routing logic or pharmacy availability changes, notifying all relevant stakeholders Identify and report
breakdowns in routing or workflow processes
and collaborate on long-term solutions Respond to
client escalations
through platforms like email, chat, or internal ticketing systems Partner with internal teams and external pharmacies to
troubleshoot and resolve referral-related issues Conduct professional communication with
prescribers and insurance clients , including some inbound/outbound calls Track and manage issues using systems like
Jira
to ensure prompt follow-up and resolution
Who You Are: Education & Experience High school diploma required 1–2 years of experience
in referral coordination, insurance, pharmacy operations, or healthcare services
Required Skills Strong multitasking ability and
comfort navigating multiple systems Excellent
verbal and written communication
skills Organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented Able to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced, regulated environment
Preferred Skills Experience in
insurance, specialty pharmacy, or healthcare service coordination Familiarity with
issue tracking systems
(e.g., Jira) Background in working across multiple stakeholders (prescribers, pharmacies, benefit managers)
