About the Position This position works within the Business Services Branch. The objective of the Business Services Branch is to provide superior administrative support to the agency, its employees, instructors, the Virginia Fire Services Board, it's stakeholders and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The Virginia Department of Fire Programs is seeking a qualified candidate to join its IT Services Team to fill the position of Information Technology Specialist III/IT Website/System Administrator. The Website/System Administrator is an analyst who implements, manages, and/or operates a system or systems at the direction of the System Owner, Data Owner, and/or Data Custodian and manages/maintains the agency (and its affiliates) website. Specifically, the IT Website/System Administrator will be responsible for, but not limited to, providing oversight support of IT projects for the agency; ensuring contents meet accessibility requirements and agency standards; and assisting agency management in the day-to-day administration of agency IT systems and implementing security controls and other requirements of the agency information security program on IT systems for which the System Administrator has been assigned responsibility. The incumbent of this position will manage both the administration of hardware and software applications as required, perform troubleshooting for issues with systems and facilitating resolutions with external vendors as required; and provide advice on system updates and improvements as needed. This position will also provide technical advice and guidance regarding the modification of the agency Systems, training databases and related applications.
The incumbent of this position will also be responsible for providing information technology end user support, including but not limited to the installation and maintenance of the agency in and out of scope PC hardware; installation of PC software using image deployment utilities; providing user support for hardware and software; technical support for PC and LAN related problems, end user password resets; contacting vendors for equipment repair; equipment and related software procurement; coordination of video conference management; and providing email client support and helpdesk support, when necessary. This position will report to the IT Project Coordinator.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications • A work history demonstrating considerable website and systems management and administration experience to include but not limited to successfully developing, implementing, and leading multiple IT projects varying in risk and complexity with diverse project teams. • Considerable experience designing website templates as well as navigating vendor templates, especially Terminal4. • Considerable experience troubleshooting complex systems and network connectivity and performance issues. • Considerable experience demonstrating the ability to collaborate and interact with tack/diplomacy with outside vendors or support personnel to manage and complete IT projects. • Considerable experience tracking and communicating the progress of website projects. • Ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot network printers. • Knowledge of Windows Operations System (Windows 10/11) • Experience demonstrating the ability to exercise discretion while working with confidential information. • Experience demonstrating the ability to work independently with little to no supervision while prioritizing/managing multiple tasks and solving problems in a fast-paced environment. • Experience demonstrating verbal and written communication skills. • Knowledge of the Microsoft Suite to include Word, Excel, Access, Access, PowerPoint, and SharePoint as well as HTML and familiarity of web languages.
Additional Considerations • Extensive IT Project Coordination/Management experience supporting a multi-user environment, Network/LANS, Active Directory, Windows server and PC Desktop OS and MS Office Suite, and AV support and installation experience desired.
