is seeking a
Planner II
to join our Landscape Architecture and Planning (LA/P) practice within the Site Solutions business unit. This position will be based in our Nashville, TN office and will contribute to a variety of planning and design projects across the Southeastern United States, with a primary focus on Nashville and Middle Tennessee. Our work spans urban design, housing, mixed-use developments, town centers, streetscapes, and educational and institutional environments. The LA/P team is deeply committed to creating meaningful, sustainable, and well-designed spaces that enhance the built environment and the communities we serve.
Responsibilities:
Providing analysis and recommendations on community planning, urban design, zoning and entitlement issues in a wide variety of rural, suburban and urban settings. Working individually or with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure that projects are completed in a timely manner, producing high-quality urban design and planning products. Assisting in the preparation of comprehensive plans, master plans, zone changes, subdivision and other entitlement applications or efforts. Explaining urban design and sustainable planning principles and practices to internal and external clients. Effectively communicating urban design concepts and solutions verbally and graphically; and working with stakeholders individually and at public meetings. Provides technical guidance on project scope, budgets, and schedules for assignments. Supports PM providing technical leadership on various projects. Conducts planning representing analysis, creating designs, preparing reports, and other various tasks. Reviews and may prepare complete project documents for conformity and project assurance. Influences stakeholders and manages stakeholder relationships within and outside Barge. Directs on-site visits to monitor progress of project. Directs CADD technicians in preparation of project plans. Mentors and reviews work of more junior staff for quality purposes. Technical lead on multiple projects or portions of complex projects. Perform other duties as assigned. Education & Experience Qualifications:
A master's degree in planning, Landscape Architecture or related field from an accredited university is preferred but a bachelor's degree and four (4) years of planning experience may be considered. AICP certification desired (or willing to achieve) and six (6) or more years of planning experience demonstrating use of the skills described above. Architecture registration and experience is preferred but not required. Demonstrates innovative thinking and knowledge of the principles, practices, and trends in planning and development. Can conduct studies, analyze findings and provide recommendations for a wide range of urban design issues with an emphasis on landscape architecture and site design. Can interpret federal, state, and local regulations and ordinances. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office Suite and has strong hand drawing skills. Possesses strong written, oral and graphic communications skills and is able to communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders in a clear, compelling manner. Can understand and interpret architectural drawings, landscape plans and grading plans; and experience preparing and assembling presentation graphics, graphic models and renderings, and report/plan documents. Portfolio or work samples demonstrating strong illustrative and writing skills required. Website or reduced PDF preferred.
