Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair a variety of heavy machinery used in construction, industrial, or agricultural operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, solid troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship. Travel throughout Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia is expected 40%–60% of the time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems on heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, loaders, bulldozers, backhoes, etc.)
  • Perform routine maintenance services, including oil changes, filter replacements, and brake inspections
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure equipment complies with safety regulations
  • Maintain accurate service records, logs, and reports
  • Use diagnostic tools and service manuals to identify issues and perform repairs
  • Operate tools and equipment safely and efficiently
  • Work independently or as part of a team in the shop or field
  • Communicate repair needs and timelines clearly with supervisors or equipment operators

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training in diesel or heavy equipment repair
  • 2+ years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic (construction or industrial equipment )
  • Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, manuals, and technical documents
  • Proficient with diagnostic software and tools
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL may be required depending on role
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in various outdoor conditions
  • Strong attention to detail, safety-focused, and dependable

Qualifications:

  • ASE Certification or equivalent
  • Welding and fabrication skills
  • Experience with fleet maintenance systems or maintenance software
