Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair a variety of heavy machinery used in construction, industrial, or agricultural operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, solid troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship. Travel throughout Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia is expected 40%–60% of the time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems on heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, loaders, bulldozers, backhoes, etc.)
- Perform routine maintenance services, including oil changes, filter replacements, and brake inspections
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues in a timely and cost-effective manner
- Conduct safety inspections and ensure equipment complies with safety regulations
- Maintain accurate service records, logs, and reports
- Use diagnostic tools and service manuals to identify issues and perform repairs
- Operate tools and equipment safely and efficiently
- Work independently or as part of a team in the shop or field
- Communicate repair needs and timelines clearly with supervisors or equipment operators
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training in diesel or heavy equipment repair
- 2+ years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic (construction or industrial equipment )
- Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, manuals, and technical documents
- Proficient with diagnostic software and tools
- Valid driver’s license; CDL may be required depending on role
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in various outdoor conditions
- Strong attention to detail, safety-focused, and dependable
Qualifications:
- ASE Certification or equivalent
- Welding and fabrication skills
- Experience with fleet maintenance systems or maintenance software
