Position Overview
We are seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to oversee QA/QC for our welding operations, ensuring compliance with customer specifications, ASME codes, and safety regulations. This role works independently from the welding team while collaborating closely with the Quality Assurance Department to maintain high standards in welding inspection and defect prevention.
Key Responsibilities
- Welding Inspection & Quality Assurance
- Interpret and inspect blueprints, drawings, and customer specifications.
- Ensure compliance with ASME WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications) and welder/welding operator qualifications.
- Conduct visual inspections and penetrant testing (PT) per ASME Code.
- Approve incoming materials, verifying specifications and conducting visual and measurement tests.
- Oversee in-process and final product inspections, ensuring welds meet required standards.
- Identify defects and recommend corrective actions to management.
Quality Control & Documentation
- Maintain inspection records and quality reports to track compliance.
- Ensure reworks are completed to standard before final approval.
- Assist in developing solutions to improve inspection processes and welding quality.
- Adhere to safety regulations and quality control procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
Required Qualifications
- CWI certification required.
- Strong knowledge of QA/QC processes and welding quality systems.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, radius gauges).
- Familiarity with ASME codes and CGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practice) standards.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with Quality Assurance teams.
