Job Summary
Science Teacher - VHS
Vallejo City Unified School District seeks a High School Science Teacher for the District in Vallejo, CA. The position involves teaching grades 9-12 science to students using the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities. The teacher will provide planned learning experiences to motivate students and best utilize the available time for instruction. The teacher will establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. The teacher will evaluate students' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, prepare progress reports, and communicate with parents on students' progress. The teacher will identify student needs and cooperate with other staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems. The teacher will create, with assistance from students, a functional environment for learning through displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers. The teacher will attend basic accounting and bus services as required, select and requisition books, instructional aids, and supplies, and maintain inventory records. The teacher will insure a comfortable room environment and supervise students in out‑of‑classroom activities during the assigned work day. The teacher will administer the group standardized tests in accordance with the district testing program. The teacher will participate in curriculum development programs within the assigned school or at the district level. The teacher will share in the sponsorship of student active participation in faculty committees. The teacher may plan and coordinate the work of aides, teaching assistants, and other paraprofessionals. The teacher will participate with professional staff members in social hygiene and outdoor education programs and may undergo standard pre‑hire background checks.
Salary range $56,695 - $105,505. Must have a Bachelor's in Biology, Chemistry, Health Science, or related science field, and hold (or be eligible for) the relevant California Educator certificate.
