Overview
Machine Learning Scientist - Natural Language Processing (NLP) - Vice President within the Machine Learning Center of Excellence. The Chief Data & Analytics Office (CDAO) at JPMorgan Chase is responsible for accelerating the firm’s data and analytics journey, ensuring data quality, integrity, and security, and leveraging data to generate insights and drive decision-making. The CDAO develops and implements AI and ML solutions to support commercial goals, develop new products, improve productivity, and enhance risk management. This role offers the unique opportunity to explore novel and complex challenges that could profoundly transform how the bank operates. You will apply advanced ML techniques to tasks such as NLP, speech analytics, time series analysis, reinforcement learning, and recommendation systems, collaborating with business, technologists, and control partners to deploy solutions into production. A strong passion for ML, continuous learning, research, and experimentation is valued, with solid expertise in Deep Learning and hands-on implementation experience. Responsibilities
Research and explore new machine learning methods through independent study, conferences, experimentation, and knowledge-sharing within the community Develop state-of-the-art ML models to solve real-world problems, applying them to NLP, speech recognition and analytics, time-series predictions, or recommendation systems Collaborate with partner teams (Business, Technology, Product Management, Legal, Compliance, Strategy, and Business Management) to deploy solutions into production Drive firm-wide initiatives by developing large-scale frameworks to accelerate the application of ML models across different business areas Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills
PhD in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, Optimization, or Data Science) with or without a MS plus at least 3 years of industry or research experience Solid background in NLP or speech recognition and analytics, personalization/recommendation, and hands-on ML/DL methods Extensive experience with ML/DL toolkits (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, NumPy, Scikit-Learn, Pandas) Ability to design experiments and training frameworks, and to evaluate intrinsic and extrinsic metrics aligned with business goals Experience with big data and scalable model training; strong written and spoken communication for technical and non-technical audiences Scientific thinking with the ability to work independently and in collaborative environments Curious, hardworking, detail-oriented, and motivated by complex analytical problems Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills
Strong background in Mathematics and Statistics; familiarity with financial services and CI/CD practices Knowledge in search/ranking, Reinforcement Learning, or Meta Learning Experience with A/B testing, data-driven product development, cloud-native deployment at large scale, and production-quality code Published research in ML/DL/RL at major conferences or journals About Us
