The Role We’re looking for an experienced Data Engineer with a passion for data and technology. You’ll play a key role in designing and maintaining our data infrastructure, ensuring efficient, scalable, and reliable data pipelines. You’ll lead the development of automated ETL processes, data remediation workflows, and quality controls.
You’ll work closely with Product, Engineering, domain experts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver impactful solutions. As a technical leader, you’ll also guide design decisions, mentor team members, and take ownership of end-to-end project delivery to meet evolving client and market needs.
You’ll need to have
Build and maintain scalable ETL pipelines to ingest, transform, and load data from various sources using Bloomberg technologies
Develop and implement data quality strategies and governance frameworks
Analyze internal processes to identify areas for improvement, engineering innovative, ML-driven workflows
Deliver transparent, fit-for-purpose solutions for internal and external Commodities clients
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Data, Engineering, Product, and Sales) to drive strategic development
Apply project management best practices to ensure technical initiatives meet requirements and timelines
Use statistical methods and data visualization to communicate insights and track project outcomes
Mentor junior team members, fostering growth, collaboration, and knowledge sharing
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent qualification) in Statistics, Computer Science, Quantitative Finance, or a related STEM field
4 years of experience designing and implementing scalable data solutions and ETL pipelines across diverse data sources
4 years of hands-on experience with Python and working with SQL/NoSQL databases
Familiarity with various data formats (structured and unstructured), including PDF, HTML, XBRL, JSON, and CSV
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor and collaborate across distributed teams
Proven experience in data quality management, including proactive strategy development and metric/reporting creation
A passion for problem solving, process improvement, and innovation
Strong project management skills and a customer-focused mindset
Nice to see
An advanced degree in a relevant field and/or Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) accreditation (or working towards it)
Experience working in commodities markets and with commodity data products
Familiarity with Bloomberg products, Bloomberg Terminal workflows, or Bloomberg Data Services
Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, or AI in business use cases
Project management experience using JIRA, QlikSense, or similar tools
